Seems like you are getting into PhD work before you have completed high school.
You say that you are "non graphic savvy". Maybe learn basic graphics first, then progress to the more advanced.
Just my thoughts and opinions.

Yup if one could even understand the terminology. The lessons are only as good as those teaching them and thus far I have IMO not found any that are that good. Also from my desktop back ground witch I have posted on this forum you may see that I do have a wee bit of a understand of simple programs.
